Jack and I were in the same class in high school.
I was a very fast learner always been. And I knew it
Jack was not a fast learner. And he knew it.
Jack was humble enough to admit he was not a very fast learner so he worked harder than everyone in my class.
He studied harder than everyone.
He went to the teacher after lessons for clarity.
He asked for help on assignments.
I was confident and arrogant in my learning abilities so I usually studied two weeks before an exam.
I never put in extra effort. I had never struggled with exams or class tests.
I never had problems with assignments.
Jack did this every day. I did what I did every day.
I passed my exams. I was average. Jack did better. He was exceptional
Jack had built a very strong work ethic.
Jack had learned humility. I did not.
Jack is still working hard. He is still humble and he is also a great Economist.
Two lessons I had learned from jack were this.
You can outlast those who are lucky and out-work those who are lazy.
And even if you are bad at something. You can get better.
But it all begins with Humility.
If you do this, it will make all the difference.
